Dull or tired skin

When skin looks flat or tired, a facial that lifts away dull surface cells, or one that hydrates and infuses a serum, can make a visible difference. Nicola offers both in Belfast.

Quick answer

SkinBase Microdermabrasion lifts away dead surface cells so skin looks fresher and smoother, and SkinBase Hydro cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates with a serum chosen for your skin. Nicola offers both in Belfast. A single Microdermabrasion treatment is £50, and a course of three is from £135.

Two facials for a tired complexion

Nicola offers two SkinBase facials in her Belfast studio, and they approach dullness in different ways.

SkinBase Microdermabrasion

This is a non invasive facial from SkinBase. A handheld device passes ultra fine crystals over the skin while gentle suction lifts away dead surface cells, so the complexion underneath looks fresher and smoother. SkinBase says it encourages collagen and elastin for firmer, brighter looking skin, and describes it as pain free with no downtime.

SkinBase Hydro

SkinBase Hydro is a hydrating facial. It cleanses, exfoliates, purifies and hydrates the skin, then infuses a serum chosen for your skin goals using a handheld device. SkinBase says a treatment can take as little as 30 minutes.

Which to choose

If your skin looks dull because of build up on the surface, Microdermabrasion goes straight at it. If it looks tired and thirsty, Hydro puts moisture and a targeted serum back. Nicola can talk you through which is the better starting point for you.

Courses and aftercare

SkinBase recommends a course of treatments for the best results, then maintenance sessions every 4 to 6 weeks. A single Microdermabrasion treatment is £50, and a course of three is from £135, which brings each treatment down to £45. A course of six is from £240, bringing each down to £40, with a £100 deposit to book and the option to split the rest.

Throughout your course, wear SPF 30 or higher and moisturise regularly. For Microdermabrasion, avoid retinol, acids and exfoliants for 72 hours afterwards. The Hydro price is available on request.
